Book Review Policies

Several Open Books

I am currently open to accepting books in whichever format you prefer (pdf, ePub, mobi, or phyiscal copy), though I'd suggest pdf to make it easier for your delivery/my receiving it, in exchange for a free honest review posted on my Book Review page here, Goodreads, and Amazon (I may post to other sites if you specifically want them, but I'm new at this and will need to learn their reviewing policies first).

Here are a couple of things to keep in mind before sending your query.

  • I am doing this for free on my own time. Mind you, I am a full-time student, worker, wife, and writer. I sadly only have so many hours in a given day, so it may take a few weeks to a month, depending on the length of your book.

  • Since I am a Christian author, I don't plan to review erotic fiction. Nothing against these authors, but I don't think I can give a truly unbiased review on these subjects.

  • I will not give lower than a 3-star review, so if I find too much issue with your work that I feel I can't give it a 3-star or higher, I will email you directly for the reasoning. I don't intend to do this to prey on a person's flaws in their works.

  • Genres I am particularly a fan of (this doesn't mean I don't read others, it's just some of my favorites):

    • Romance: Historical, Contemporary, YA, New Age, Christian, Dramatic, Comedic.

    • Historical Fiction

    • Christian Fantasy/Sci-Fi

    • Graphic Novels/Manga

Okay, now that that's out of the way, steps to take when sending it:

  1. Send it through the contact page or directly to sarahnham@dogwooddreamer.com, with the subject entitled: "Dogwood Dreamer Book Review Request"

  2. Please include the following information:

  • Title

  • Your name (and Pen Name, if desired)

  • email address

  • book blurb

  • genre

  • book-length (page and/or word count, can be an estimation)

  • book link (if you have one)

Please don't send your story until I contact you back on the request. I don't want to inconvenience you by having you send something I can't read. Thank you so much, and I look forward to reading people's stories.
